THE MAD PIANIST

Drifting upon the starlit sea,
The mad pianist strikes his keys,
His heart once whole,
Has long been torn,
The girl he loved,
Mourns him no more.

A silent parting,
With eyes to guide him,
The mad pianist seeks to find it,
Yet what it is he cannot say,
Despite his melodies both torn and grey,
He only floats and lives to play.

Drifting upon the starlit sea,
The mad pianist strikes his keys,
Rising from the unknown depths,
Come creatures who have heard and wept,
Yet the mad pianist pays no heed,
He lives to play and strike his keys.

The creatures weep throughout the night,
And still not once he takes their sight,
From their eyes come salty tears,
Slow it starts, but long it goes,
Their weeping fills the ocean whole.

Drifting upon the starlit sea,
The mad pianist strikes his keys,
And far away from where he plays,
The girl remains waiting lone and brave,
And in her longing the sea reaches out,
Cold upon her feet and she begins to shout.
A cry for help for one long gone,
Her heart tears for his distant song.

Upon the sea paints a picture of thee,
The waves and sky will show her he,
And so she sees what all creatures see,
She begins to weep for what came to be,
Drifting upon the starlit sea,
The mad pianist strikes his keys.

The girl he loves will wait and wait,
The mad pianist has changed her fate.
